The die defines the impression. Precisely engraved, it bears a distinctive sign — coat of arms, monogram, logo, or bespoke motif — designed to leave a lasting mark on the material.

An embossing plier is a compact hand-held tool used for dry embossing. An embossing press is larger, more stable, and designed to stand on a desk. In both cases, the paper must have sufficient weight to achieve an optimal result.
An embossing plier gives the best results on papers weighing between 80 and 110 gsm. It can be used on writing paper, envelopes, official documents, and books.An embossing press is ideal when the paper weight exceeds 120 gsm. It is mainly used for correspondence cards, business cards, and other thicker supports.
Embossing is a dry process, carried out without ink, relying solely on the deformation of the paper. The engraving uses ink and creates a visible relief through the impression left on the paper.
